Together We Can Make Things Happen
What tactics have you used to deal
with hectic schedule and different and difficult personalities at work?
Individual’s words can sometimes have slighter different meaning to different
people. All human beings no matter what their personalities shared common
motivation to achieve something.
I am a person who prefers to work
alone. I design things on my own. I hate being told all the time and I don’t
like to direct somebody’s work. I have
always been a leader whenever there’s grouping in the class and as expected I
make every task done.
Project Implementation was very
different. It changed me a lot. I almost give up as a leader in our group. I
never thought that I could do those things. Being a leader is a big challenge for
me. I know I couldn’t make thing done alone like what I did before. I need to
make sure everybody’s working based on what is required. I must set the tone
for working relationship.
Secondly, uniting the group to work as
one. You know different personality corresponds to different perspective,
ideas, opinions and different emotions which often lead to misunderstanding.
Thirdly, we all have our other subjects that required our time and attention.
And lastly, balancing time. I almost neglect and forgot my other subject just
to focus and pay full attention to the subject Project Implementation and of
course to make campus eco-action possible.
But there’s always sunshine after the
rain, there comes the over coming stage. This is the time when you find ideas
and tactics to solve the problem. In dealing with different personalities,
everyone must understand one another and accept differences. We are all unique;
we have our own field to excel. Work not just for yourself but for the group
and of course for the entire project. It should be collaboration rather than
isolation like what I prefer to do before. Its cooperation rather than
competition like how the project started. It’s like a competition for an active
and smart group who would finish the project first.
But when we started planning and
preparing for the launching of our campus eco-action cooperation happens. Tasks
were divided to different persons with different personalities and with unique
capabilities. I have learned that there are no difficult people, only different
ones. I need to establish the personality type that seems to fit the person I
am dealing with. By that I’ll be able to handle situation better. I also
learned that trying to be nice to somebody is not being hypocrite but trying to
be strong and mature handling different individual.
As a leader, I need to be firm with
what I have said, no best friends no close friends when it comes to work. You
could sometimes sacrifice good relationship for everybody’s benefits. Sometimes
I need to be strict to put weight on my words and to show them that I am tough.
I need to be concerned about the atmosphere and the work of the whole group and
do something constructive. It’s often difficult. I learned how to motivate
people, and different people have different motivation. All we need is
coordination and mutual cooperation. Work with patient is a work well done.
Many of us want to put and get things fast, right away. Nature doesn’t work
that way, we want to achieve something we need to put our entire effort and
dedication to have it. Dealing, working and leading people may never that easy,
uniting the entire class to work as one maybe tiring, getting their cooperation
is more challenging and balancing time might be a hard thing and choosing what
subject to prioritize is not a joke but having these odds gives me a lesson
that “individually we are great, together we we’re even greater. Together we
can make things happen.
Our lessons learned leads to
realization; it is when you changed as a person, they say we learn from our
experiences but I think we do not learn from our experiences but we learn from
processing our experiences. And I could say that my experiences in Project
Implementation breaks me and makes me to be a new person again. Everything was
hard and impossible yet with the hard works, patience, perseverance and courage
everything turns out fine.
Success is never like an arrow
slanting straight upward, but a spiral arrow slanting upward. You have to give
your dedication and strive even more and you never ever under estimate the
value of one’s self, believe each strength and accept each weaknesses.
As a whole, the entire experiences are
very unforgettable, worth sharing for and would really empower you to0 beyond
that would truly change your perspective and attitude towards life. This speech
won’t end until I could say, thank you Sir Mervin for everything you’ve shared
to us. The pimples we have had for those sleepless nights making the proposal,
the crumpled relationship during the entire process and the stress is worth the
knowledge you have parted to us. With a heart of gratitude I am giving you back the honor and admiration for everything
is impossible without you. Once again thank you so much, of course for this
chance to have my speech today.
